The Coachella Valley Latino International Film Festival Announces Filmmaker Chris Hume, “This Is Cuba” to Attend Film Festival, Panel Discussion

Plus, Additional Panel, Cast Members From “I’m Not Like That No More”

Filmmaker Chris Hume, the director of the controversial documentary film, This Is Cuba will attend the Film Festival and participate with a panel to follow the screening of his film on Saturday, December 5th at 4:00 PM. Joining Chris Hume as guest panelist are: Dr. Lilia Tanawanaka - Dean of Student Affairs at Santa Ana College, Mr. Nilo Lipiz – Dean of Instruction and Student Services at Santa Ana College and Mr. Rick Seidner, of Rick’s Restaurant and Bakery of Palm Springs, California. The panel will be moderated by Florence Ren Figueroa – Co-Writer / Line Producer of the documentary, This Is Cuba. Participation by the audience in a Question and Answer session will follow.

Chris Hume is the son of Emmy nominated Writer/Director Edward Hume and Singer, Alexis Gershwin (niece of Ira and George Gershwin) and is a graduate of Bard College in New York with a degree in Cinema. He is also the recipient of the Maya Deren Prize for Excellence and Commitment to Cinema. After college, Chris formed Shoot and Run Productions under which he has directed and produced numerous documentaries. Chris is also an editor having made a career editing movie trailers including the Academy Award winner, Fahrenheit 911 and also, Michael Moore’s Sicko. This Is Cuba is a must-see for fans of documentaries and for those Americans who are interested in knowing more about one of our Communistic international neighbors.

Writer/Director, Christian Sesma of the comedy film, I’m Not Like That No More will be joined by the film’s Cast members: Felipe Esparza, Shaun Latham, Deborah Baker, Jr., Edwin San Juan and Jay Montalvo on Sunday, December 6th at 1:00 PM. The panel discussion will immediately follow, with the Director and Cast discussing their film. Participation by the audience in a Question and Answer session will follow.

The Coachella Valley Latino International Film Festival will be held on December 4-6, 2009 at the Indio Performing Arts Center in Indio, California. The event will be a fundraiser to benefit the Non-Profit, Indio Performing Arts Center. The international Latino films and documentaries, Special Events, with the participation from Latino filmmakers and entertainers will be a part of the 3-day event, with a Special Guest presenting the Audience Favorite Award, decided upon the Festival’s attending audience on Sunday evening, the close of the film festival. The complete line-up of the film schedule has been announced and reservations to purchase tickets are strongly recommended. The box office opens November 30th.
